April Showers Bring May Flowers

Here is a mixed media project I did recently at an art class I took with my kiddo.  These projects are so much fun.  It's paper, paint, stamping, doodling, and love. 

A Three Card Saturday

Terrible weather yesterday....so what's a girl to do?  Make a mess.  I used Make the Cut and my Cameo for all three of these cards.  The octopus is from Lettering Delights.  The squirrel is from Miss Kate Cuttables, and the girl is from Paper Piecings by Nikki.  

The crochet flower on the girl card was handmade by my friend T.  She has beautiful crochet embellies on etsy here:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/CrochetEmbellies.  She makes cute stuff cheap, and if you don't see what you're looking for, contact her and she'll make it for you if she can.

Love is in the Air

Eye Heart Ewe

ha....that's my next card, but for now, I went with a different version of I heart you.  I used some crochet hearts from my friend T's etsy store here.  T. does the most amazing work...in paper and yarn...and everything else she touches.  (Thanks, T.!  Those are your flat-back pearls too!  What would I do without ya?!  My best connection.....)

I also used a stick pin that I got from Jjewel's stickpin swap last year.  I got some great stickpins, and it's past time that I start to use them instead of just drooling over them.  I love how this pin looks sandwiched between T.'s hearts.

So, really, how much of this card did I do?  lol.  I built the file for the card base in MTC and cut the fonts with my cameo.  That's it.....I feel like I cheated...quick and easy....and I love it.  That never happens.

A Beary Fun Day

It's has been a beary fun day filled with paper crafting for me today.  I made a couple of cards....in his and her versions with my cameo.  

I was visiting the talented Tracy, and when I saw her adorable bear card, I loved it so much, I had to make one of my own.  Then when I saw how cute it was in pink, I had to see it in blue....I went a little nuts.  ;)  But I couldn't help myself.



Then I had to make a couple of bears from the TeddyBear Parade cart.  I was in a swap a few months back and one of the participant's bears got lost in the mail.  A call has gone out for volunteers willing to make a few more bears so that we can get together a full replacement set.  I decided to do the bride and the farmer.  I hope Zuri gets herself a complete set of bears soon.

Double Pocket Card

I saw a card sketch this morning that I loved....it's here if you want to take a peek...great blog.  This is my take it using a crochet embellishment from my friend T.'s etsy store here.  It's a double pocket card and it was made with the cricut using CCR.....yep...that's real sewing, my friends.  Look out...I'm gettin too big for my britches.  ;)

Teddy Bears in Oz Blog Hop

Welcome to the Teddy Bears in Oz Blog Hop.. You should have arrived here from Maria at Stamp, Cut, Create. Today, we are featuring teddy bears created from the Cricut Lite cartridge "Teddy Bear Parade" dressed as characters from The Wizard of Oz. 

Fun, right?  If you are just joining us, start your journey down the yellow brick road at RockinRenee's blog; I came, I saw, I created.  The character I am sharing with you is the (not so) Cowardly Lion.

This Lion was created in Cricut Craft Room using only images from the Teddy Bear Parade cartridge.  That is the only cart you will need to cut everything used for this little guy.  

1.  Assemble your teddy bear.  After he is assembled, trim his ears off.  Be careful to trim them following the curve of the bear's head.  Set the ears aside because you will use them later.

2.  The lion's body is made from the Easter Bunny suit and a flower that was added for the tail.  Trim off the bunny ears, following the curve of the bunny's head.  Set these ears aside as you will use them later.  You will also trim the leaf off the tail and trim the petals off the flower at the end of the tail.  There is a piece provided in the CCR file that you will glue on to the end of the tail to make the fluffy part you see just above the bow on the lion's tail.  I covered this piece in Paper Crinkle (keep reading for more info on Paper Crinkle).
2. The lion has two layers of manes.  These manes were created by welding together the turkey's tail feathers.  I used natural colored Paper Crinkle that I found at Michael's (it's the paper stuff you put in Easter baskets) to create the curly mane.  If you don't have Paper Crinkle, the mane would look just as cute if you embossed the layers or used flocking to cover them and then popped the layers with foam tape.  
3. The medal was made using the mermaid's scalloped seashell bikini top.  I welded four of these together and then welded on another piece that looked like it would work for a ribbon.  I cut this piece in white and colored in the red stripes with a marker.  Then I cut the medal (without the ribbon) from a piece of kraft paper that I embossed and inked with gold and brown inks.  I then cut the blue swatch that goes over the ribbon.  It is too small to write "courage" on, but I tried....lol...I smeared the result a little with my finger before the ink dried (on purpose) to get this look.
4.  I then covered the four small pieces of fur trim that adhere to the lion's legs and the larger piece that adheres to the tip of the lion's tail with Paper Crinkle.  Again, if you don't have that, they would be just as cute embossed or flocked, inked, and popped.
5.  Now back to those ears you didn't lose.....glue the teddy bear ears to the bunny ears.  Flip the piece so that you can see the bear ears and use scissors to trim around them.  This will leave you bear shaped ears covered with the same paper as the lion's body.  Position and glue each ear to the biggest layer of the lion's mane.  This will give you cute little pieces of teddy bear ears sticking our from behind your lion's mane.
6.  You are now ready to assemble your Lion Bear.  I used glossy accents on his eyes and nose after he was assembled for some extra shine.  Then I added a red bows to the mane and tail.  Finished off with a few dots from my white pen, and then sat back and declared him too cute and cuddly to be "The King of the Forest."
