I'm No Quitter

This tag/card was made for my daughter, Kate, who left for college yesterday.  She went with  me to Michael's not too long ago and picked out a stamp that she thought was hilarious.  It says "I'd give up chocolate, but I'm no quitter."  So, I saw a cute little smore card by Amy (http://southernbellescrapper.blogspot.com/2011/08/my-craft-spot-challenge-23-stitching.html) and decided it would be a perfect for my first, of what I hope to be weekly, care package.  I designed my smore using Design Studio, George, and Paisley.  The tag is from Art Philosophy.  I plan to put a few goodies in a box and send this off to her at the end of the week. She's been saying all summer she hopes she gets lots of mail....oh boy! ;)

Mouse in a Box

Morning,
I made this yesterday, but didn't get a chance to post.  The little mouse is from Birthday Bash.  My daughter needed a birthday card for her soon-to-be college roommate.  Thanks to National Grid for getting us back up and powered on before she left.  It was an adventure.

Pink Lemonade Gift Bag

Morning!  I have a cute little gift bag to share today.  It's simple, but fun.  I am going to put the t-shirt I made (and posted in the previous post) inside and surprise my sister with it.  I used elegant edges, george, simply charmed, savory and pink journey to create this one.  The lemonade pitcher was cut once in white, inked with blue, and then I embossed frosted vellum and added it as a top layer.  I tried to take a close up of it, but I'm not sure I captured the "coolness" of that pitcher. ;)   I love that this gift bag came out fun and lighthearted, but it still conveys a message.  I am so proud of how well my sister has handled her lemons.  I am going to enter this in the My Craft Spot Gift Bags and Boxes Challenge (http://craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/2011/08/monday-challenge-21-gift-bags-and-boxes.html).  This is the first time I have ever entered a challenge.  My friend Joy is on the DT, and she was the push I needed to give it a shot.  Thanks for taking a peek.

   

A Tee Shirt with Vinyl

I ordered some heat transfer vinyl from Nick at www.craftvinyl.com.  I have to say, it was easy to cut (on high pressure for me with just one cut -  no multi-cut needed).  It ironed on easily as well.  I let the first layers cool completely before I added the second layers.  I also used a teflon "pad" from craftvinyl (it's a thin sheet of material and not "pad-like" at all).  I made this for my sister who is going to run in the Gloria Gemma 5K in October.  She named her team "Pink Combat Boots".  Cute huh?

Two Bees or Not Two Bees

These cards were so popular on the cricut messageboards last year.  I made a few then, and decided I wanted to try another using my new flower shoppe cart and the sizzix bee that Joy Sikes sent me last week.  I used a strip of plastic clamshell that the cricut carts are packaged in to make the bee on the top look like it was hovering just above the flowers.  It looks really cute in person, and you really have to look for that plastic strip to see it.  If a person could be in love with a bee, well, I bee in love.  ;)  Thanks, Joy, for the thoughtful gift.  

You Bowl Me Over

This card was made with Nifty Fifties and George in Design Studio.  I used an exacto knife to slit an opening into the top layer of the bowling ball and then glued that on top (gluing just the edges of the shape) of another bowling ball that was uncut.  The pin slides into the pocket and the message is written on the back of the pin.  I did use two layers on the pin as well so it would stand straight (as a pin should).

Joy's Bee Visits the Casa di Vinci

This card was made with a sizzix bee that I call "Joy's Bee."  Joy Sikes, my amazingly talented and sweet friend, knows that I LOVE this bee.  She found one and sent it to me, along with some ribbon, buttons, and other fun and fabulous crafting goodies that I absolutely adore.  Of course, I was dying to use this bee.  Joy does amazing things with it...and it might be the cutest thing I've ever seen.  So, when I needed to make a thank you card for our friends, the Vinici's, who let my  husband and kids stay with them when they were making their way back home from a SC vacation, I designed it around Joy's Bee.  I used sentimentals for the hive, WIMG for the sign, and the flowers are from Mother's Day Bouquet.  I just love how it came out.  Thanks, my friend.  I absolutely adore this die!
